Know the hidden facts
You brush and floss regularly. You even gargle after meals. Did you know that doing all this still doesn’t mean you’re safe from cavities? Good dental hygiene is great, but it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with your proclivity for cavities. In this blog, SmileKraft Dentistry’s Dr. Priyank Mathur discloses other possible reasons you may be attacked by cavities.
To start with, cavities are what you get from tooth decay when you eat sugary, or carbohydrate rich foods. As understood most commonly, lack of proper and frequent brushing and flossing are the most common reasons for getting cavities. “However, what people often overlook is the fact that teeth have grooves in them where food and bacteria can get stuck and some people have naturally deep grooves, which are difficult to keep clean, no matter how hard you try.”
“Moreover, you may also be susceptible to cavities if you suffer from dry mouth since saliva acts as a buffer which helps break down food particles. Issues such as bruxism, or grinding of the teeth as well as a genetically inherited weak enamel can also increase your risk of getting cavities. In such cases, it is always best to be regular with your dental checkups” says Dr. Mathur.
To keep cavities and other issues at bay, knowledge is always the first step towards prevention. At Smilekraft Dentistry, we’re happy to partner with you to give you that perfect smile every single time!
